EPIC (Environmental Products for Important Causes) is a line of environmentally friendly cleaning products made by a small San Diego-based company. The company's product line covers a variety of cleaning products and combines smart choices in stock packaging with well done graphic-design to appeal to its eco-conscious customers.
The company prides itself in using biodegradable ingredients in its products and donates 100% of its after tax profits to environmental charities. Founder Noelle Morris comes from a background in the non-profit sector and decided to start EPIC after realizing she could use products to raise money to support charitable causes. One example is her company's partnership with Save our Seas.
An admittedly unconventional company, EPIC is doing some interesting things with its packaging and graphic-design. Morris choose stock HDPE bottles for her packaging. "We had the option of creating new bottles for the products, but I chose to use standard HDPE bottles. They are recyclable almost everywhere," she said.
Using stock packaging, her focus became the graphic design. A friend of hers who works for Crate & Barrel's design team did all the graphic design. "The labels reflect a new concept she developed in shelf-branding ... when the products are sitting on the shelves you get a "teaser" of the image, which makes you want to pick it up. By then, the product is in your hand and most likely you will put it in your shopping cart," said Morris.
Since Morris did not want to use synthetic materials in her products, including dyes, the importance of the packaging design was increased. "The vivid labels and colors make up for the lack of coloring in the product itself," she said.
EPIC's most popular products are their Citrus + Ginger All Purpose Cleaner, Orange 100% Cleaner + Degreaser and their Glass + Mirror Cleaner.
Currently their products are only sold in San Diego markets and online.
The company also offers its products to companies and retail stores through their janitorial line. Origins is one of EPIC's clients using their products to clean their retail stores.
When it comes to cleaning products, we should choose those environmental friendly which made up of natural ingredients. It will not only helps the environment but it will also keep our family's health safe.
